Open innovation: mirage, trap or development accelerator?
Open innovation is a concept balanced on findings of “proprietary” innovation, handled in the confidentiality of a study office or R&D service. This allows sharing the risks, hazards or costs inherent in an innovation project. However, sharing the results of such progress often leads to less of a “sharing” mentality. “What about Intellectual Property?” Is this an out of date subject, contradictory to open innovation? Is it a useful tool to create confidence and structure dialog between partners engaged in open innovation? How do we structure progress to avoid drifting toward the “fox in the chicken coop” and secure the partners in order to encourage the dissemination of knowledge and creativity with respect for the interests of each? The round table will allow presenting experience-sharing on specific progress, without beating around the bush in a constructive manner, in order to gain information on best practices and recommendations. Plenty of time will be left for conversations with the participants.
